RadoVent

Requirements and recommendations:

In accordance with the Building Regulations, constructions, including terrain decks, must be carried out in accordance with good practice, as well as with materials that are suitable for the current construction. Today, we have requirements in the Building Regulations for a maximum content of 100 Bq / m³ in the indoor climate for new construction. It is described that the inflow of Radon to the indoor climate must be limited by building airtight or by using other measures.

According to SBi, Radon suction is considered to be the most effective form of Radon protection. SBi therefore recommends that you always ensure the possibility of being able to activate a Radon suction if this proves necessary. It is recommended that suction be carried over the roof. SBi assumes that a single suction point can cover an area of approx. 120 m² depending on the nature of the suction layer and foundation conditions. By completely omitting foundations under partitions, a single suction point can cover up to 250 m².

Using RadoVent:

As a professional contractor, it is your responsibility to comply with the requirements of the Building Regulations. Therefore, it is also your responsibility that the maximum Radon content in the indoor climate does not exceed 100 Bq / m³.

BEWI RadoVent is an EPS board designed to establish a ventilation network under the terrain deck construction. The plate measures 50 mm in thickness and the ventilation slots measure 30 × 30 mm. This means that approx. 30% of the plate is completely open and can be ventilated so that any. Radon can be removed before it reaches the building.

RadoVent is laid directly on a sustainable subsoil or on a compacted sand pad. The leveling tolerance is ± 5 mm over 3 m. The duct system faces the overlying terrain deck structure. It is important that the plates are laid out so that the ventilation ducts are kept open. Therefore, it is also important to be careful when finishing against the plinth.

The most effective Radon suction is achieved by completely omitting foundation under any. partitions, if possible. As we know the strength of the RadoVent slab, it is possible to include this in the strength calculation for partitions placed directly on the concrete slab. The calculation program can be found here.

RadoVent can contribute to the insulation of the terrain tire. However, only so long as it is passive. The moment the layer is ventilated, the contribution from the RadoVent plate will be eliminated. At the same time, the supplement you normally get from the soil insulation will also have to be removed from the heat loss calculation. This means that the terrain deck construction now actually lacks what corresponds to approx. 80 mm G80 type insulation.

The RadoVent boards are formed, like ordinary floor insulation, with most types of hand tools. Gradually, filament cutter has become more widespread. Styrolite recommends using filament cutters, as these provide the least waste and make a cleaner cut in the product.

Storage should not occur in large quantities. Covering is recommended. Keep sources of ignition at a safe distance.
