EPS GREY

100% recyclable insulation material with 20% better insulation capacity than white EPS
Expanded polystyrene with graphite

EPS Grey has approximately 20% better insulation capacity than white EPS. This makes it possible to insulate roofs, floors, walls etc with thinner boards and achieve the same performance as with thicker regular EPS insulation.

Slows down heat

The grey colour and enhanced performance of EPS Grey is achieved by adding graphite to the expanded polystyrene. The graphite reflects heat and improves insulation capability.

The closed cells of EPS Grey trap air within the material. The trapped air is a poor conductor of heat, which slows down the transfer of heat. The result is a warmer indoor climate and increased energy efficiency.

EPS Grey is also effective against cold bridges.

Durable insulation

EPS Grey’s first-rate insulation properties, high moisture and mould resistance and durability make it ideal as insulation in construction applications.

EPS Grey is often used as insulation in flat roofs, concrete and timber backed walls, in wooden frames and as an insulation layer in wall elements with concrete and wood. EPS Grey is also cost-efficient when used as additional floor insulation.

EPS Grey is easy to cut to any size or shape, and easy to install.

100% recyclable

EPS Grey is extremely lightweight, which helps reduce transport costs and fuel emissions.

The first-rate insulation properties that keep cold out and warmth inside have also been shown to reduce energy consumption.

EPS Grey is 100% recyclable and at BEWI we collect, compress and extrude used EPS and reuse it as raw material for new EPS. It’s a closed-loop that saves natural resources, minimize waste, lowers CO2 emissions and water use.

White or grey

Whats the difference?

EPS Grey costs slightly more than white EPS. White EPS has the advantage of being somewhat easier to work with, but EPS Grey is recommended when you are concerned with thermal performance, as you get comparable or often more efficient insulation with thinner boards.

EPS Grey production

Expanded polystyrene production starts with pre-expansion, where polystyrene beads are impregnated with a foaming agent and expanded with heat. This causes the foaming agent to evaporate and air to enter the beads, which inflates them to 20-50 times their original size. The beads are stored until they reach equilibrium and then moulded in either large blocks (block moulding) or customized shapes (shape moulding). EPS Grey also has high-purity graphite infused into its cell structure during the production process.

Quality control

BEWI’s stringent quality control system verifies that the polystyrene beads, foaming agents, graphite and other material used to produce EPS Grey are first rate. We track and document every step of the production process and have rigorous procedures in place to ensure that our products meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.
