BEWI is a leading international provider of packaging, components and insulation solutions. The commitment to sustainability is integrated throughout the value chain, from production of raw materials and end goods to recycling.

Since the outset in 1980 on the island Frøya off the coast of central Norway, the dedication to creating value to our customers, the society and our owners has established BEWI as a driving market force by offering sustainable solutions in innovative and efficient ways. Guided by the vision to protect people and goods for a better everyday we are leading the change towards a circular economy.

Successful and profitable growth

Since 2014, BEWI ASA has acquired around 30 companies in Europe.

The acquisitions has resulted in an established European presence. The exchange of experiences among existing and new subsidiaries have created competitiveness, and synergies have been realized in sourcing, integration of raw materials operations and mergers of Group units.

Continued consolidation

BEWI’s markets are fragmented, and the Group intends to participate in the continued consolidation of the market.

We can do this by acquiring companies and minority interests to gain exposure to the largest economies in Europe. Business combinations must be built on industrial logic. They will strengthen and develop existing operations, provide relevant technology, and create synergies and long-term value. Areas such as sourcing, operational excellence and administration have been identified for continued realization of synergies.

BEWI serves a wide range of end markets

Food industry

BEWI supplies packaging solutions for maintaining unbroken refrigeration chains in the seafood, dairy, and meat sectors. The company is a major supplier of EPS fish boxes, crucial for transporting fresh seafood, particularly in Norway, the world’s largest exporter of fresh salmon. Additionally, BEWI provides packaging solutions for the dairy and meat industries, ensuring products remain fresh and safe during transportation.

Building and construction

BEWI offers a comprehensive range of insulation products for the building and construction industry, primarily composed of expanded polystyrene (EPS) and extruded polystyrene (XPS). These solutions are used in foundations, walls, roofs, and infrastructure projects, enhancing energy efficiency and contributing to sustainable building practices. The company has a strong presence in the insulation market, with facilities in multiple countries producing high-quality insulation products.

Automotive industry

BEWI develops and manufactures technical components from expanded polypropylene (EPP) for the automotive sector. These lightweight and efficient solutions often replace complex assemblies, reducing vehicle weight and improving fuel efficiency. The company has strengthened its position in the automotive market through strategic acquisitions, enhancing its capacity to supply innovative components to leading automotive manufacturers.

Pharmaceutical industry

BEWI provides EPS packaging solutions that ensure temperature stability and shock absorption, making them ideal for safely transporting pharmaceuticals. These packaging solutions are crucial for maintaining the integrity of pharmaceutical products during distribution.

Recycling and circular economy

BEWI’s Circular division collects and recycles used EPS materials. The company has significantly increased its recycling capacity, and new facilities enhance its ability to offer customers solutions with a lower CO₂ footprint. This initiative supports BEWI’s vision to lead the change towards a circular economy.
