Workers in the supply chain

A commitment in everything we do

BEWI believes business can prosper in societies where human rights are protected and respected. BEWI has a responsibility to respect human rights, and at the same time the power to contribute to positive human rights impacts. In BEWIs value chain, everything BEWI does is supported by a responsibility to respect and promote all internationally recognized human rights. Key considerations are fair labor practices, safe working conditions, respect for human rights, and ethical treatment.  BEWI can only succeed if people and partners around us succeed – we strive to create a positive impact on the workforce throughout our value chain.

Detailing risk management, efforts, and due diligence processes

To address these challenges, BEWI is committed to rigorous risk management and due diligence processes. Our approach involves:

Human rights due diligence

We conduct regular assessments of our suppliers to verify compliance with our strict human rights standards. This involves a thorough examination of their practices, with a focus on labor conditions and ethical sourcing.

Monitoring and auditing

Our monitoring systems are structured to proactively detect potential human rights risks within our value chain. We conduct regular internal and external audits to ensure compliance and swiftly resolve any concerns that arise.

Collaboration

We collaborate closely with our suppliers and partners to build a mutual understanding and dedication to upholding human rights principles.

The objectives are to reduce plastic and paper pollution while creating jobs and stimulating business development.

BEWI Partner

BEWI has made a commitment to respect human rights, carry out due diligence, and provide a remedy if things go wrong in our own organization, supply chain and with our business partners. BEWI has a global supply chain involving hundreds of businesses and potentially tens of thousands of people. We have a responsibility to show caution and it is the right thing to do!

The launch of BEWI Partner, a digital supply chain management system, has been a significant milestone. It paved way for a systematic due diligence of the company’s suppliers of goods and services to ensure they meet BEWI’s expectations and requirements.

Sailent Human Rights

Salient human rights have been identified and are a priority within the organization. Based on results from mapping BEWI has developed an action plan for each salient issue that will guide how the company will manage and monitor each issue going forward.

Recycling of work clothes

In 2022 a project for recycling of work clothes at our RAW Etten-Leur facility started. Instead of discarding used workwear, we collaborate with Põur and GAIA to repurpose these materials, turning them into new products like cooling bags or raw materials for further manufacturing. This initiative not only helped in resource efficiency and circularity but also saved water, reduced CO2 emissions, and provided hours of social employment
