Local community

BEWI is operating across different regions and is present in many local communities. The company is committed to mitigate negative impacts especially concerning the migration of microplastics, to have a good dialogue with neighbours, and to actively engage in the communities where it operates

Community engagement

Employment projects

We focus on creating job opportunities, especially for those re-entering the workforce or with limited work history. These projects not only provide employment but also aid in community integration and diversity

Educational partnerships

Recognizing the importance of education, we collaborate with local schools and universities. This involves facility visits, internships, and knowledge sharing, contributing to a better understanding of sustainable practices and circular economy principles

Local sports sponsorships

We believe in the power of sports as a platform for inclusion, diversity, and youth development. BEWI sponsors local sports teams, contributing to community well-being and unity

Environmental initiatives

Our commitment to environmental sustainability is evident through activities like participating in the World Clean-up Day. We encourage employees and local residents to engage in environmental clean-up efforts, fostering a sense of community and environmental responsibility

Relevant projects

Recycling of work clothes

In 2022 a project for recycling of work clothes at our RAW Etten-Leur facility started. Instead of discarding used workwear, we collaborate with Põur and GAIA to repurpose these materials, turning them into new products like cooling bags or raw materials for further manufacturing. This initiative not only helped in resource efficiency and circularity but also saved water, reduced CO2 emissions, and provided hours of social employment
