EPS

The 100% recyclable packaging and insulation material. EPS keeps food fresh and protects shock-sensitive goods, and it provides cost-effective, energy-efficient insulation for the construction industry.
Expanded polystyrene

We have a wide selection of EPS-solutions spanning everything from fish boxes and other packaging to insulation for foundations, floors, walls, roofs, solar panels etc.

Perfect for packaging

The air trapped within the cells provides EPS (expanded polystyrene) with superb thermal insulation properties against heat, cold and moisture. It’s waterproof, non-toxic and hygienic (fungi and bacteria can’t grow on EPS) – factors that combine to keep food fresh and help lower food waste.

The excellent impact resistance and shock absorbency of EPS results in outstanding protection of packaged products.

EPS can be moulded into almost any shape and is used to protect medicines, electronic consumer goods, technical components etc, as well as fish, vegetables, fruit and other fresh food. EPS is also used in cycle helmets, infant car seats, cushioning in chairs, etc.

Ideal for insulation

EPS’s insulation properties, its first-rate compressive strength, rigidity and durability make it ideal as insulation in construction applications. It’s used in foundations, floors, walls and roofs in buildings, roads and infrastructure projects.

EPS with high compressive strength is used for load-bearing applications and it has exceptional dimensional stability.

Sustainability

EPS is 100% recyclable

EPS is 98% air, which makes it extremely lightweight. It adds almost no weight to the finished product and is easy to handle, while transport costs and fuel emissions can be reduced.

The first-rate insulation properties that keep cold out and warmth inside have also been shown to reduce energy consumption.

EPS is 100% recyclable and at BEWI we collect, compress and extrude used EPS and reuse it as raw material for new EPS. It’s a closed-loop that saves natural resources, minimize waste, lowers CO2 emissions and water use.

EPS production

Expanded polystyrene production starts with pre-expansion, where polystyrene beads are impregnated with a foaming agent and expanded with heat. This causes the foaming agent to evaporate and air to enter the beads, which inflates them to 20-50 times their original size. The beads are stored until they reach equilibrium and then moulded in either large blocks (block moulding) or customized shapes (shape moulding).

Quality control

BEWI’s stringent quality control system verifies that the polystyrene beads, foaming agents and other material used to produce EPS are first-rate. We track and document every step of the production process and have rigorous procedures in place to ensure that our products meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.
