Driving circular value chains through active partnerships

BEWI recently hosted the Norwegian Centre of Circular Economy (NCCE) and its members at its facility in Fredrikstad for an event on circular business models. The meeting focused on practical examples of the circular economy and the importance of collaboration for strengthening circular value chains.

Coordinated efforts to increase recycling

NCCE is a collaborative arena for stakeholders working to advance circular solutions. With nearly 100 member companies, the centre supports efforts to develop feasible and profitable circular business models.

During the meeting, participants from the public and private waste management sector and the manufacturing industry shared their experiences on EPS (expanded polystyrene) collection and recycling. Their contributions demonstrated how coordinated efforts across the value chain are essential for keeping materials in the loop.

Solutions in practice

“Collaboration across the value chain is key to making circular solutions work in practice. BEWI shows how circular principles can be integrated into daily operations, giving our partners an example of a functional and profitable circular business model,” says Natalia Mathisen, business developer at NCCE.

The programme included a guided tour in BEWI’s production facility, showcasing how recycled materials are processed and turned into new products, as well as a preview of the upcoming EPS recycling facility, the first of its kind in Norway. While not yet officially open, the facility will enable regional recycling and further strengthen BEWI’s position as a leader in circular solutions for EPS.
