BEWI wins two ScanStar Awards

Innovation. Design. Recycling.

BEWI’s air freight box and paint bucket made it to the top in prestigious packaging competition

Two new packaging solutions from BEWI – Jotun’s paint bucket and Posten’s air freight box – have been awarded at ScanStar packaging competition 2025. Both products, made of PP (polypropylene), were recognised among 44 entries from across the Nordic region.

ScanStar is an annual competition organised by the Scandinavian Packaging Association (SPA) since 1969. The jury assesses entries based on design, material use, functionality, and value chain, as well as how the packaging performs during transport and handling.

“We are proud to receive two ScanStar awards. We work closely together with our customers to develop solutions that simplify everyday tasks, improve logistics, and support circularity,” says Morten Furunes, Director of IM/fiber Production at BEWI Packaging Norway.

The jury highlighted the products’ innovative and functional design, recyclability, and use of recycled materials.

Posten’s air freight box features a practical design where the box also functions as the lid. The box is easy to assemble, offers good load capacity, and is fully recyclable.

Jotun’s paint bucket was developed using a new production technology for this type of packaging, making it easier to open, close, pour from, and stack. The bucket contains 60 percent recycled PP and can be fully recycled.

“Polypropylene has good material properties. It’s solid, flexible, durable, and recyclable – something our customers, and also ScanStar, acknowledge,” says Rune Kvilvang, Managing Director of BEWI Packaging Norway.
