BEWI introduces GreenLine Super EPS, insulating boards made from recycled grey EPS
BEWI, a leading provider of packaging, components, and insulation solutions, is expanding its GreenLine product range with insulating boards of grey EPS (expanded polystyrene) with up to 52 per cent lower CO2 footprint. GreenLine Super EPS is produced using the industry-first grey EPS raw material made entirely from recycled feedstock, developed by BEWI RAW.
“GreenLine Super EPS reduces CO₂ emissions compared to standard grey EPS, supporting carbon reduction targets in the building and construction industry while maintaining the same technical properties and insulation performance”, says Karl Erik Olesen, Chief Operating Officer of BEWI’s Downstream segments.
Better insulation, lower carbon footprint
EPS is a well proven material used to insulate buildings, improving energy efficiency. Grey EPS includes graphite, providing better insulation values compared to traditional white EPS. The use of recycled feedstock in GreenLine Super EPS results in a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, without compromising product properties such as high compressive strength, low water absorption and thermal insulation.
BEWI’s GreenLine product range is part of the company’s efforts to increase circularity. Through the Circular division, the company collects and recycles used EPS, with an annual run rate of 40 000 tonnes, using the material as feedstock in its own production. This enables the development and offering of more products made with recycled materials and a lower carbon footprint.
“GreenLine Super EPS reflects our commitment to combining resource efficiency with high-quality building performance,” Olesen adds. “We will continue to expand our GreenLine range with solutions supporting our customers in reaching their strategic goals.”
