Swallowbrook exemplifies cutting-edge energy-efficient ICF construction, set on a picturesque acre with stunning views over open countryside. This custom-built family home, replacing a 1960s bungalow, seamlessly merges modern and Georgian architectural elements while complementing the neighbouring Grade II listed farmhouse. Its innovative design means that the three storey layout is partially hidden at the front of the property by virtue of a retaining wall and wraparound terrace structure, enhancing its connection to the surrounding landscape by following the natural contours of the land.

Homeowner Charles Vickery project managed the build, collaborating closely with skilled contractors to select premium materials, such as BEWI Thermomur ICF blocks and Norrsken triple-glazed windows. This meticulous approach has ensured outstanding thermal efficiency and sustainability, supported by a large solar panel array that offers energy self-sufficiency. Swallowbrook stands out for its intelligent design and is a strong contender for the Best ICF Home Award.

 

The project utilises BEWI Thermomur® ICF Building System and BEWI Jackodur® ATLAS Foundation System.
BEWI Thermomur® 350 Super ensured an outstanding thermal performance (U-value = 0.15W/m²K) and enabled a fast and efficient build. BEWI Jackodur® Atlas Foundation features an innovative interlocking design that eliminated thermal bridging, and ensured a superior insulation and stability for the foundation slab.
The result is a building with an outstanding thermal and acoustic performance with highly insulated structural walls and floors.
