Speaking is Liv Olsson, 28, Sustainability & Sales Manager at BEWI RAW. She combines the role of customer advisor, with a big heart for sustainability. “In this ‘typical man’s world’, as a young woman you are sometimes put to test a little extra. But that’s not a bad thing.

It helps that I speak my customers’ language. Literally, because I can get by in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, English and Dutch. But also in terms of content. I know their world and understand the challenges they face.”

High-level lobbying in Brussels

“Among other things, I regularly update companies on all the changing regulations in Brussels. Often they are not informed at all, sometimes they underestimate the impact of Brussels policy. ‘This legislation is coming. These adjustments are expected of you. That is greatly appreciated.”

“Through EUMEPS, we keep the European political elite informed of all sustainable developments in the EPS world. Moreover, we make sure they are aware of all the facts surrounding plastics. For example, that EPS and plastics in general is actually the most sustainable option. That is in the interest of the entire industry.”

Choosing sustainability

Liv: “For example, we have several raw materials that help you take nice steps towards a more sustainable end product. Think of high-quality recycled material. Or BioFoam, the first biodegradable foam insulation. If you can’t opt for that in specific cases, you can still save CO2 with our Certified Balance products.”
