I get to solve complex problems all day long
I like complex issues. Modifying substances frequently for the best results.

That one question from that one customer often leads to a whole new product

Milica Bordijasevic loved puzzles as a child. Now, as a Product Specialist at BEWI RAW’s Research & Development department, she does no different. ‘First picking up loose bits of information from everywhere and then using it all to create the best products; that’s wonderful!’

Playing with spaghetti

“I studied technology. Very broadly. But I liked organic chemical engineering, and polymer engineering in particular, the most. Simply because you can modify these materials frequently. Adapt them. Bend them to your will. For whatever our customers need. After all, they are very long molecules. Think of them as long spaghetti strings of information you can keep modifying.

For instance, a customer asks for a product that is also UV-resistant. Or one that absorbs radiation. We then brainstorm, research, test and analyse with our group of R&D people. In short, puzzling. Until we have the solution. And that one question from that one customer then often leads to a whole new specialist product in our range. Or to new processes.”

Just switching on the lights

“I don’t really feel like I work in a man’s world. We are completely equal, we ask each other plenty of advice and there is a very nice atmosphere. Of course, traditionally women might have chosen other professions more. But I really see it changing. This line of work might have just been “unknown” before. But my sister in Serbia, funnily enough, does exactly the same thing. So sometimes someone just has to turn on the light for you so you can see it differently.”
