The turn of the year 2016/2017 offers welcome news for BEWi – fabricated foam. BEWi’s production unit in Vårgårda is to install a new production line for fabricated foam in November/December.
Fabricated foam is a collective name for PUR (polyurethane) and EPE (polyethylene). Through BEWi’s design expertise, both standard products and more advanced customer-unique products will be offered. The investment also opens up for combined solutions.
PUR is an abbreviation of polyurethane and is a collective name for a foamed product.
The material has open cells, which allows the material to pass through air and water and makes the material soft. Polyether and polyester are used as packaging materials, mainly for low weight products or products that are very sensitive, such as antistatic-treated polyether for electronics and telecom. Polyester is a slightly more rigid material with characteristics such as resistance to oil, fat and acids. While the material can be flame retardant, polyester is used as a sound absorber by the automotive industry and, for example, heat pumps and compressors.
Cellular plastic made from Polyethylene (EPE) or cellular polyethylene, is the most common material for shock absorption, separation and fixation of medium to heavy products in the industry of fabricated packaging. BEWi can offer transport protection from low volumes up to high volume products. The material is manufactured in a wide variety of colors as well as with different characteristics depending on the application, for example soundproofing, dissipative/conductive and flame-retardant properties.
